Captain Jake
Capt. Jake Brooks is from Bradenton, Florida. Ever since I could walk, I’ve had a rod in my hand. Having a dad that was crazy about bass fishing, I followed suit. It wasn’t untill age 11 that I got into fishing saltwater. Fishing the inshore flats for snook, tarpon, redfish, and trout. I moved to Oahu in 2010 to make surfboards for a living. It wasn’t until I had a friend moving to the mainland tell me about catching his first bonefish on the fly here. I had no idea Hawaii had bonefish, let alone some of the biggest in the world. I grabbed a fly rod and reel the next week, dove in head first and haven’t looked back since. Out of all the fish I’ve caught in my life, Hawaiian bonefish are defiantly my favorite.
